Oregon State Fair website launch with "Session Favorites" module

June 24, 2008

OpenSourcery's lead Drupal developer, Jonathan Hedstrom, has been working to create a striking, feature-rich website for the good people at the Oregon State Fair. The site has recently gone live, so we wanted to take a moment and boast about the outcome.

The Fair's promoters wanted an attractive, easy-to-navigate site that helped visitors make sense of hundreds of events spanning eleven days. Visit the site yourself and check out the bands, the shows and special deals. As the promoters say, "It's too big to miss."

Look to Jonathan's blog for further development details, but here at NEWS we'd like to share an exciting feature he built for the site: it's a "Can't Miss" list that allows visitors to flag their favorite sessions and create a printable, personal schedule that ensures they're in the right place at the right time throughout the week. Basically, it provides a "Favorites" or bookmark system based solely on a browser cookie. This allows site visitors to build lists without becoming full-fledged users. It's an elegant solution for event planners in all fields.

Thanks again to the Oregon State Fair for the opportunity to work on their beautiful site.
