Excellent Turnout for Drupal Portland
A broad range of Drupal developers, from true beginners to full-time experts, descended on the OpenSourcery offices for the June Drupal Portland meetup, and everyone left a little bit smarter.
The event tends toward informal conversation and advice, but members also dig into some of their serious concerns and reasons for excitement. Among the items discussed was a 2008 CMS Satisfaction Survey (from NTEN) showing that the top-ranked CMS software is open sourceOpen source software is computer software for which the human-readable source code is made available under a copyright license (or arrangement such as the public domain) that meets the Open Source Definition., followed by commercial and, bringing up the dead rear, proprietary solutions.
The remainder of the meetup consisted of open discussion of issues that were giving developers trouble - migration from one CMS to another is particularly relevant at the moment - and some general conversation revolving around technique, code samples, demos, and, of course, hacking :)
The event is free and open to the public, every second Wednesday of the month, at OpenSourcery's offices. Join us next month at 711 SE Ankeny.
