OpenSourcery is excited to officially announce its sponsorship of GOSCON, the Government Open Source Conference organized by the good people at the Open Source Lab and Oregon State University. GOSCON emerged in 2005 as a forum to explore the business case and real-world applications for open technology to deliver the next generation of government services. This year's theme is "Transforming the Delivery of Government Services," with a special emphasis on Open Public Health IT. Of course, as the creators of the open source Electronic Medical Records (EMR) application elementalClinic (emC), we have a lot to add.
This year is poised to be the best event yet, drawing participation from government agencies, vendors, contractors and suppliers from the U.S. and abroad. Recently announced keynote speaker Aneesh P. Chopra is the Secretary of Technology for the Commonwealth of Virginia. He presentation is entitled "Building a Culture of Innovation and Productivity Through Collaboration."
Look for OpenSourcery at GOSCON: we'll be busy demonstrating our own open source contributions to the government sector.
GOSCON takes place at the Crowne Royal Hotel here in Portland. This year's event begins October 20 with the new "International Open ICT Summit." The core program takes place October 21-22 (read the program), and look for the field trip and tour of Oregon State University’s Open Source Lab on October 23.
